MATERIAIS 2019, XIX Congresso da Sociedade Portuguesa de Materiais and X International Symposium on Materials, will take place in Lisbon, Portugal, from 14 – 17 April 2019.
MATERIAIS 2019, will explore the latest scientific and technical developments in Material Science and Engineering, and related areas, bridging different knowledge domains under the scope of the main thematic “Materials for a Better Life”. The International Symposium will cover all materials areas, namely Functional Materials, Structural Materials and Materials Processing, Characterization and Modelling. Two Schools will be organized dedicated to e-Paper and Nanocharacterizationand, for the first time, a Special Session on Cultural Heritage will take place.
MATERIAIS 2019 will be hosted by the Rectorate of the NOVA University of Lisbon at “Campus de Campolide”. Lisbon is mainland Europe’s westernmost capital city and the only one along the Atlantic coast, in a country that has an important part of its history connected with the maritime discoveries. A global city due to its importance in finance, international trade, entertainment, arts, education and tourism, it is also one of the oldest cities in Western Europe.
MATERIAIS 2019 continues the long-standing and well established MATERIAIS conferences organized every two years by the Portuguese Materials Society (SPM). This will be the nineteenth National and the tenth International Materials Conference, since the inaugural one, held in Lisbon in 1983 and following the last meeting in Aveiro (MATERIAIS 2017). MATERIAIS 2019 is sponsored by the Federation of European Materials Societies (FEMS).
During this edition, and for the third time, we will award the SPM Career and Recognition Award (Prémio SPM de Carreira e Reconhecimento) that aims to recognize, encourage and promote outstanding research and development activities in the area of Materials in Portugal.
We are very pleased to welcome again SOCIEMAT (Sociedade Espanola de Materiales), The Spanish Materials Society, to our International Symposium.
