The H2020 Innovative Training Network project WiVi-2020 is recruiting five "Early-Stage Researchers” (ESRs), who will follow industrial PhD programs, focused on the broad areas of flexible spectrum, heterogeneous access, and network virtualization. The positions are open at (i) The Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas (FORTH, Greece) (ii) Linköping University (LiU, Sweden), and (iii) CYTA Hellas (CYTA, Greece),
The following five topics are available:
- ESR1: Mobile Access and M2M-facilitating performance-oriented indoor network planning (at LiU)
- ESR3: Efficient use of spectrum for multi-RAT 5G communications (at FORTH)
- ESR4: SDN-based wireless architecture for seamless integration of heterogeneous RATs (at FORTH)
- ESR5: Multi-RAT traffic offloading under QoS constraints with optimal resource coordination (at CYTA)
- ESR6: Virtualization-based optimization of network core-access for heterogeneous services (at CYTA)
Skills:
Applicants should be fluent in communicating in English both in speaking and writing. A strong mathematical background in communications and networking technologies as well as on optimization and software development are required. Competences in optimization, game theory are preferable skills.
Eligibility and Requirements:
The applicants should be, at the time of selection, in the first four years of their research careers (measured from the date when they obtained the degree which would entitle them to embark on a doctorate).
The applicants should not be in possession of a doctoral degree, but they should have the qualifications to embark on a PhD program.
The applicants (regardless of their nationalities) must not have resided or carried out their main activities (work, studies, etc.) in the country of the recruiting institution (Sweden for LiU applicants, Greece for FORTH and CYTA) for more than 12 months in the last 3 years.
The successful applicant must apply for, be accepted in, and follow a PhD program at either LiU or at the University of Crete (UoC - Greece), depending on the ESR position. Failure to enroll in the respective PhD program will render the candidate ineligible to be offered a contract within WiVi-2020.
The ESRs are going to spend 50% of their project involvement at CYTA (Greece) or Ericsson (Sweden), again depending on the ESR position above
Financial Provisions:
H2020 MSCA ITNs provide competitive financial support to the ESR including a competitive monthly living and mobility allowance, coverage of the expenses related to the participation of the ESR in research and training activities (contribution to research-related costs, meetings, conference attendance, training actions, etc.).
For more information of WiVi-2020, the ESR projects, the recruiting sites, and the consortium partners, and also the application process visit our project website <http://wivi-2020.eu/> or email us at jobs@wivi-2020.eu<mailto:jobs@wivi-2020.eu>.
Application procedure:
The recruitment will follow a three-step procedure, with a first-come-first served policy. i.e. we will evaluate applications upon reception and proceed to evaluate applicants individually and progress them individually along the steps below. The final ranking however will be time-independent.
- Step 1. Researcher application
Applicants should send an e-mail to jobs@wivi-2020.eu<mailto:jobs@wivi-2020.eu> with subject “WiVi-2020 application” containing only one single pdf filewith the following, in English:
1) Motivation Letter
2) CV*
3) Transcript of MSc/BSc studies in English, Swedish, or Greek.
4) Up to 3 references with full contact details.
* the CV must (a) be in the Europass format and (b) contain:
o Bachelor degree, date, topic, university
o Master degree, date, topic, thesis, university; do not include the thesis, only the abstract.
o Publications (if any); do not include the publication, only the abstract and a link to a freely downloadable pdf version of your article.
